Glamorous Red & Mysterious Purples

Prepping a model for Glam Squad Tour with this season’s hottest lipcolor.

Summer was about subtle and natural lipstick, but as winter approaches, it’s time for dramatic, attention grabbing colors. The big colors for this fall and winter are bright, matte red and deep, dark purple. These colors create the perfect opportunity to pull off classic glamour or a bold and mysterious look.

Bright, Matte Red:

Bright red is a color that women either love or hate. Some find it sexy while others don’t think they can pull it off. The truth is, anyone can pull off red lips, as long as they wear it right. This season’s red lipstick is all about matte red. I love MAC’s Ruby Woo (a blue based bright matte lipstick) or anything fromRevlon’s collection of Matte lipsticks (beauty tip: the stronger the matte, the longer it lasts!). As for the rest of your makeup, stick to the basics when wearing red. Mascara and a bit of eyeliner are enough to pull of glamorous red lips.

Deep, Dark Purple:

While red lipstick is classic, dark purple is trendy, mysterious, and dramatic. The dark purple is a more daring color, and it’s great for anyone who wants a bold, new look at parties (it’ll get you noticed in no time!). Unlike bright red, with purple the emphasis is on both the lips and eyes. Wear purple lipstick with a fun smoky eye using gray or black eye shadow for a more dramatic look.

No matter what color you choose, a great trick to long lasting lip color is to use lip liner (I recommend MAC cremestick liner) to outline your lip and fill in your whole lip. Now that I’ve introduced this seasons hottest lip colors, what color are you most likely to try this fall/winter?
